Farm succession is the topic of a two-night workshop hosted by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in September.
The program is designed to provide an overview of farm succession planning. Topics will include language of estate planning, setting goals, implementing your plan, gift and estate taxes, and having “the family conversation,” along with providing resources participants can use for future planning.
Speakers will include Tim Christensen, Iowa State University farm management specialist in west central Iowa; and David Morain, attorney at Hoyt & Morain Law Firm PC.

The workshop will be Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 4 and 5, from 6 to 9 pm, with a light meal provided at 5:30 pm each night at the Greene County ISU Extension and Outreach office in Jefferson.
Registration fee is $50 per person or $175 for a family of four. Persons who want to register should call the Extension and Outreach office in Jefferson, 515-386-2138. Space is limited and registration deadline is Aug. 28.
The sessions are open to the public; however pre-registration is requested by Aug. 28. Meals and information provided is included in registration fee.
